The Sport and Exercise Psychology research group at the LEP explores the cognitive and environmental mechanisms influencing sport and physical exercise involvement. Guided by an ecological-dynamic framework, the lab examines how individuals and their surroundings co-create conditions for effective and sustainable physical activity. The group’s research is structured around two key axes: INCREASE, which investigates the role of prospective thinking and bodily-oriented cognition in predicting and preparing for physical effort, and MAINTAIN, which focuses on the long-term sustainability of physical activity, emphasizing the quality of the lived experience across diverse populations. Using cutting-edge methodologies, including behavioral experiments, neuroimaging, and qualitative analyses, the lab contributes to a deeper understanding of how to foster meaningful and lasting engagement in physical activity.
