Alcohol Research Group

The Alcohol Research Group, led by Pierre Maurage at UCLouvain, is part of the Louvain Experimental Psychopathology Research Group. Their research focuses on understanding the cognitive, emotional and interoceptive impacts of alcohol use disorders (AUD), particularly through neurocognitive and neuroimaging studies. The team investigates alcohol's effects on brain functions like decision-making, emotion processing, social cognition and attention, aiming to develop early detection tools and interventions. They emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, integrating psychology, neuroscience, and clinical research. The group also explores the broader psychopathological dimensions of addiction and its relationship with other mental health disorders.
